C3 stuff

Excuse the recent lack of updates... :/

Anyway, SMW C3 (SMW Central Creativity Convention) has started over at SMWC, and I've prepared a few things for it.
First, I've released "The Coin Hunt", which you blog readers have hopefully heard of. I'm too lazy/busy to show screenshots right now - instead, I'll link you to the hack's C3 thread.

The second project is some kind of Trailer for Not-So-Brutal Mario (which is now officially called A Strange Mission).

Be sure to coment on it in the C3 thread as well! Link.

That's all for now - I plan on making one more thing for C3, but I'm not finished with it yet. Expect it tomorrow or something.

I'm not dead yet!

Quite the contrary - I've been working on my side projects a lot lately, and I haven't gotten around to posting something. Now that I'm at it, I might as well post some screenshots of what I've been doing:

These are from "SMB1" redrawn, my second side hack. I'm quite satisfied with it so far. :D When it's done, it will contain all of the original SMB1's levels (possibly a few custom ones too), and people can use it as a base for their own SMB-styled hacks. I'm quite confident it'll be ready for SMWCentral's "C3", which takes place in May.

This one's from "Not-So-Brutal Mario", my third side hack (my first one is "The Coin Hunt", which I already showed here). In this short hack, each level will have a different kind of ASM feature. In the first level, you're playing as Yoshi! Nice, huh? You might want to check this thread for more information.

That's it for now, time to get back to hacking...

The Coin Hunt

Wow, my third post. I hope I can keep this blog active (read: post once a day or so)...

Let's get to the topic though: I decided to show some screenshots of a hack I've been working on a bit lately. The concept is different from many other hacks: There is no goal point or key you can get. Instead, you have to collect a certain number of coins in every level to proceed (Once you get the last coin, you'll get teleported to the overworld and events are revealed). It may be inspired by Keytastrophe a bit, though.
Another special thing about this hack is...

It's in black and white! I have no idea why I did this, but it's a welcome relief in my opinion... at least you can be sure there are no horrible, eye-searing palettes. ;)
I plan on removing the level name at the top by the way, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Also, yes, the hack only consists of six levels.

Screenshots of the first three levels. Note the changed block and Koopa GFX, as well as the new status bar (it still needs some fixing here and there though). Also, there's a new counter marked with an exclamation mark, which tells you how many coins you need to collect in total (As you can see, the amount of coins you need varies from level to level).

Since I'm pretty busy working on Pokey's Adventure, don't expect this hack to be released too early, even though it's very short. If it's generally well-received, I might consider two sequels, one in NES stlye (8-bit graphics), and one in SNES style, as if it were 3 games for different consoles.

(By the way: No, I did NOT cancel Pokey's Adventure, just in case you're wondering.)
Feedback would be nice. ;)
